Women's Soccer to Host Truett McConnell in National Tournament
Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 16, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College women's soccer has been selected as an opening weekend host for the 2024 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship, with Saturday's release of the tournament bracket.
The No. 14 seed Viking women's soccer team earned an automatic berth into the National tournament, and a bye into the second round, after capturing the 2024 Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season title with an undefeated record in conference play, at 10-0-1. This was the second regular season conference title in program-history, and the first since 1993. The Vikings have earned a berth into the National tournament for the fifth-straight season, and sixth time overall. The team carries a 14-4-1 record into the tournament.
Missouri Valley will host a National tournament game for the second time in program-history, and welcomes Truett McConnell (Ga.) inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium for the second round match, Nov. 23. Truett McConnell comes into the tournament with a 16-1-3 overall record and finished 12-0-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The team won both the AAC regular season title and conference tournament, to earn an automatic berth into the National tournament.
The winner of the Nov. 23 second round game will advance to the third round, and the National site, which is located at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Fla. The National site games will begin Dec. 2, with the National championship game Dec. 9. Missouri Valley has advanced to the National site once in program-history, finishing as National runner-up in 1991.
Three other teams from the Heart earned berths into the National tournament. MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), Central Methodist (Mo.) and Benedictine (Kan.). The Vikings finished with a 4-4 record against National tournament teams.
Tickets can be purchased in advance of the game through the valleywillroll.com website. Tickets will be $8 for adults and $5 for children between 5-12 years of age. Children four years of age and younger will be free admission.
