Women's Soccer Continues Climb Up Coaches' Poll

Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 6, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College women's soccer continued to climb up the rankings with the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday.

 

In the final regular season coaches' poll, the Vikings jumped up one spot, and are now ranked No. 17.  The team finished 2-0 during the previous ratings period, with a 3-0 win over Baker (Kan.) and a 3-1 win against Graceland (Iowa).  Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Mount Mercy (Iowa) did not factor into this coaches' poll.

 

One other teams from the Heart is ranked, as Central Methodist (Mo.) fell to No. 12.  The Vikings topped Central Methodist, 3-2.  Missouri Valley has defeated No. 19 John Brown (Ark.), 3-2, and lost to No. 7 Oklahoma Wesleyan, 3-2 and No. 8 Columbia (Mo.), 1-0. 

 

The women's soccer team has now been Nationally ranked in 44 of the previous 46 coaches' polls, dating back to the 2020 season.  The No. 17 ranking is the highest for the team so far this season.

 

Missouri Valley is 14-3-1 overall and captured the program's first Heart regular season title since 1993 with a 10-0-1 record in conference play.  Tuesday's win over Mount Mercy advanced the team to the semifinal round of the Heart Postseason Tournament as the No. 1 seed.  The Vikings will host No. 5 seed MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.), Friday at 7 p.m., inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  Missouri Valley defeated the Pioneers, 1-0, on the road, back on Oct. 2.
