Men's Soccer Moves Into Coaches' Poll Top Five

Marshall, Mo., (Oct. 23, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's soccer team made another jump in the rankings with the latest edition of the 2024 NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Wednesday.

 

Missouri Valley moved up two spots from its previous position, and is now No. 5 in the coaches' poll.  The Viking went 2-0-1 during the latest ratings period.  The wins came against then-No. 5 Bellevue (Neb.), 1-0, and Park (Mo.), 1-0.  The team tied Grand View (Iowa), 1-1

 

Two other teams from the Heart are ranked in this edition of the coaches' poll.  William Penn (Iowa) stayed at No. 8, and MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) dropped No. 23.  The Vikings are 4-1 against teams currently ranked.  In addition to the win over Bellevue, the other wins came against MidAmerica Nazarene, 2-1, William Penn 3-1, and No. 20 Columbia (Mo.), 3-1.  The loss came to No. 2 Oklahoma Wesleyan, 2-1.

 

Missouri Valley extends its streak of consecutive polls ranked to 48-straight, dating back to Nov. 6, 2019.  This is the third-longest active streak in the NAIA.  The No. 5 ranking is the highest for the program since being ranked No. 5 in the Oct. 12, 2022 coaches' poll.

 

The men's soccer team is 11-1-2 overall and 7-0-1 in the Heart.  Up next is a road game at Baker (Kan.), tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m., in Baldwin City, Kan.
