Bio
Matt Cobb finished as one of the most decorated and successful athletes in the history of the men’s wrestling program during his career at Missouri Valley College.
On an individual level, Cobb finished as a four-time All-American, one of only seven in the history of the program to reach that achievement. At both the 1998 and 1999 NAIA Wrestling National Championships, Cobb finished third at 174 pounds. He broke through in his junior season, and won a National title at 174 pounds at the 2000 National championships. He then earned his fourth All-American honor after placing third his senior season at 174 pounds. In all, Cobb finished with a 17-3 record at the NAIA National Championships, the second-best individual record all-time for the program.
In addition to his individual success, Cobb helped guide the team to three National runner-up finishes, coming in 1998, 2000 and 2001.
After graduation, Cobb returned to Idaho, and became a state champion high school wrestling coach, creating a pipeline of future wrestlers into the Missouri Valley men’s wrestling program.
