Viking Sports Network

The Viking Sports Network (VSN) produces home broadcasts for Missouri Valley College athletic events.  Voice of VSN is long-time play-by-play broadcaster Ken Kujawa.  Ken has spent more than four decades in the broadcasting business, and has served as Voice of the Vikings for more than 15 years.  Joining Ken during football and basketball games is color commentator Joe Aull.  Broadcasts are produced by Chaz Maddi, who has more than three decades of experience in broadcast operations, and has worked both large college athletics and major professional sporting event broadcasts during his career.  Both Ken and Chaz are instructors in the Mass Communications department at Missouri Valley College.

VSN produces broadcasts for football, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, women's wrestling, men's wrestling, men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse.  In addition to regular season events, VSN has also produced broadcasts for Heart of America Athletic Conference postseason tournament and NAIA National Championship sporting events.  Other on-campus productions include coverage of the Maastricht Institute of Entreprenurship and the college's Commencement Ceremony.

VSN is integrated into the cirriculum for students in the Mass Communications program at Missouri Valley College.  Students are put into live broadcast environments that mimic real-world productions for sports and other on-campus events.  The primary focus for students is in camera operations, but students are exposted to shifts for graphics, technical directing and directing of broadcasts.  Students will build and strike equipment for broadcasts based on information in production books as in a professional setting.

Students involved in the college's Mass Communications department and VSN have won multiple awards from the Missouri Broadcast Educators Association throughout the years.  The crew has won the "Multi-Camera Live Sports Presentation" award in nine of the past ten years.
