Bio
Josh Miller made an impact at Missouri Valley College as both a student-athlete and a coach, making history with two programs. As a student-athlete, Miller was a stand-out player for the baseball program, leading the team to success not achieved in many years. Miller led the 2002 team to a Heart Postseason Tournament title, and an appearance in the NAIA Region V Tournament, advancing to the championship round. He finished the season as a first team all-conference and first team all-region selection, along with NAIA All-American honors. Miller followed with another first team all-conference selection in 2003, helping the team to an NAIA Region V title, before falling in the Midwest Super Regional, one win shy of the NAIA World Series. Miller finished his career with a .310 lifetime batting average, 28 home runs and more than 100 RBI’s.
Following his baseball career, Miller took over as head coach of Missouri Valley softball. From 2007-10, Miller built up softball into a championship program. The pinnacle of his tenure came in 2009 when the Vikings worked their way through the Heart Postseason Tournament, and won the program’s first tournament title. The tournament win earned the team its first National postseason appearance in program-history, and a 7-4 win over Northwood (Texas) as the first National tournament win in program-history. Miller led the team to 34 wins that season and was named the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Midwest Coach of the Year. During Miller’s five seasons as head coach, the Vikings won 96 games, producing 14 all-conference selections.
