Bio
James Booker made his impact at Missouri Valley College as a two-sport athlete, finding success in both track and field, and in football earning numerous all-conference and All-American distinctions between the two sports.
As a track and field athlete, Booker was team captain from 1991-93. He finished with multiple awards and honors as a sprinter, and was a member of conference championship indoor and outdoor teams in 1992 and 1993. Individually, he was four-time conference champion in both indoor and outdoor track and field. At the National level, Booker was a three-time All-American, earning the distinction at the 1991 and 1993 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, along with the 1992 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Booker still holds program records in the indoor 55 meter dash, set in 1991, (6.25 seconds) and indoor 300 meter dash, set in 1992, (34.92 seconds).
Booker was also an award-winning player for the football team. He was one of only four freshmen to letter on the 1989 conference champion football team, and played in both NAIA playoff games. Booker was a two-time all-conference selection and was team captain in both the 1991 and 1992 seasons. He was also a four-year V-Club member and was selected as Mr. Viking in 1993.
