Luke graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

After serving two years in the United States Navy, Luke enrolled at Missouri Valley College in the fall of 1948 and played three years of football for the Vikings.  During this time, the football Vikings had a 41 game winning streak, and won the conference in 1948 and 1949.  In the three years and three bowl games in which Luke participated, the Vikings only lost six games.  In 1950 Luke was earned All-Conference First Team honors.  During his senior year at Missouri Valley College, Luke served as President of the Business Club, and was chosen for Who’s Who among America’s College’s and Universities.

Following graduation Luke and his wife Sissy moved home to Harrisonville and joined the family grocery business.  Luke became President and Chairman of the Board of the Scavuzzo Corporation.  In 1994 Luke retired as President, but remains as Chairman of the Board.  Luke and his wife have three children and five grandchildren.
