Leonard Milton Carr was a standout football player for the Missouri Valley College football program, making his impact during the 1945 and 1946 seasons. He was a key member during the historic 41-game unbeaten streak during those two seasons, featured at the tailback position. Following the 1946 season, Leonard was invited to a football all-star game and was invited for a tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to football, Leonard was Vice President of the V-Club. He graduated from Missouri Valley with a bachelor's of science degree in history.
Prior to his playing days at Missouri Valley, Leonard fought in World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the Army's Bomb Disposal Platoon in Germany. He earned three Bronze Stars for valor. After graduating from Missouri Valley College, Leonard began working for Traveler's Insurance Company in 1947, and continued to work with the company until his passing in 1970. Leonard also attended night school at the Kansas City University School of Law, but was a few credits short of earning his law degree.
Aside from work, Leonard was an avid golfer, and carried a three-stroke handicap. He passed away during a round of golf.
