Larry Hall graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1959.  Larry transferred to Missouri Valley College from the University of Missouri in the fall of 1957.  Larry was ineligible for football because of the transfer date but practiced with the 1957 Viking football team.  Larry participated in Track the spring of 1958; he broke a 29 year-old record in the first track meet in the shot put.  Larry re-wrote the record in each of the next three meets.  Larry became the MCAU shot put champion and set a new conference record of 49’1”.  Larry participated in the NAIA National Championships in San Diego, California, and finished 7th overall.

Larry played offensive guard and defensive nose guard on the 1958 Viking Football Team.  Larry was selected on the MCAU All-Conference Team as a guard.  Larry was selected as a first team pick on the Williamson National Rating System Little All-American Team and honorable mention on the NAIA All-American Team.  Larry participated in the Optimist All-American game in Phoenix, Arizona.  The game pitted small college All-Americans against major college All-Americans.  Larry was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 12th round of a 28 round pick.  In 1959 there were only 12 NFL football teams.

Larry then again competed in track spring of 1959.  Larry only lost one dual meet but set the Missouri Valley College shot put record with a throw of 49’3”.  Larry went to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to participate in the NAIA National Championships.  Larry was hit in the back with a shot put while warming up and was not allowed to compete in the meet after the accident.

Larry went to the Green Bay Packers training camp and was waived later by the Packers.  Vince Lombardi was the coach at the time.  Larry started teaching in Raytown, Missouri, in 1959.  Larry taught for seven years at Raytown, one year at Golden City, Missouri, established the football program at Willard High School and taught three years.  Larry is currently completing his 20th year in the Springfield Missouri School District, teaching at the Middle School level, coaching football, and track.
