Jon graduated from Missouri Valley College with honors in 1979 and was not only successful in the classroom; he was outstanding on the football field as well. Just to name a few of his accomplishments: HAAC First Team Defensive End ’77 & ’78; NAIA District 16 First Team Defensive End, ’78; NAIA All-American, ’78; Football Co-Captain; ’78; and Mr. Viking Runner-up, ’78. While at Valley Jon was also active in the V-Club; Alpha Sigma Phi social fraternity and was the Special Olympics event manager for two years. Jon has been a high school educator and wrestling/track coach for thirty years in the state of Missouri. Throughout this time he has been instrumental in developing many young adults not only on the football field but also in the classroom. Jon has worked many hours to ensure each individual student receivers the proper education necessary to succeed. Dedicating his life to education and developing young adults has been important part to these past thirty years for him. Jon has been nominated three times as District Teacher of the Year and was selected as the Missouri High School Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1995. He is popular among peers, students and faculty. Jon is respected in the community as both a teacher and coach and is proud to have influenced forty-three students to attend Missouri Valley College in the last thirty years. Jon is also the father of two beautiful daughters, Katlyn & Kylie and two handsome step-sons, Brandon & Tyler. Jon stated that Coach Ken Gibler had the biggest influence on him while at Valley. “Coach Gibler brought out everyone’s ability to be their best, gave constant motivational support, had an open-door policy and related football and competition to life experience.
