Jim Morris excelled on the football field while at Missouri Valley College, and became one of the most dominate players in program history. Making his presence felt on the defensive line, Jim helped in leading the program to a Heart of America Athletic Conference championship in 1971. His career at Missouri Valley culminated in 1973 leading a defensive unit that allowed only 90 total points scored the entire season, keeping opponents to less than 10 points per game. He was a three-year starter for the Vikings, and finished as an All-American in 1973. Jim’s play at Missouri Valley led to him being drafted in 1974 by the Oakland Raiders.
Jim stayed close to athletics after his time at Missouri Valley College. He was an assistant coach for the Ole Miss, Pacific (Calif.) and Delta (Miss.) football programs. He also was a head coach for the Harding (Ct.) High School football program in Bridgeport, Ct. Jim also worked as a youth counselor and probation counselor following his time in coaching.
Jim credits legendary coach Ken Gibler as someone who greatly impacted and influenced him during his time at Missouri Valley College.
