Jervon Walton was a dominant force at running back during his time at Missouri Valley College,
putting together one of the most successful seasons at the position in 1999. That season, Walton finished with 1,507 rushing yards on 242 carries, and scored 19 touchdowns. His 309 rushing yards in a single game is third-most in program-history. Jervon was the Heart Offensive Player of the Year, NAIA All-American and the Ted Chittwood Award winner in 1999. He led that team that averaged nearly 30 points per game, to a Heart of America Athletic Conference championship. The 1999 team also made the NAIA Football Championship Series for the first time in five years, and finished with a 9-3 record. In addition to his success on the football field, Jervon also competed on the men’s wrestling team for three seasons.
Following his playing time at Missouri Valley, Jervon played several years of professional football. He spent two years playing in Barcelona, and spent two seasons playing professional indoor football. Jervon credits former Viking and Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee Gene Smith, his high school coach, as the person who greatly influenced him in becoming a Viking for directing him towards the school.
