Fred enrolled at Missouri Valley College in November of 1942 and lettered in basketball track during the 1942-43 season. Fred left alley to serve in the United States Navy during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Manila Bay and playing for the ship’s basketball team that won the Pacific Championship. Fred returned to Valley in 1945 lettering in basketball every year until graduation. Fred played on the 1948-49 basketball team that won the Conference Championship. Fred also played on the golf team, before graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education.
Following graduation Fred worked in sales for several companies and in 1975 became a manufacture’s representative. In January of 1981 he formed the F.W. Rogers Company, Inc., which represents eight companies carrying some of the top lines on the dairy industry.
Fred is married to Fern Ritterbusch (former Marshall student) and resides in Kansas City, Missouri. Fred and his wife breed and show Kerry Blue Terriers, and since 1960 have had 65 champions, including three which were exported to West Germany.
Fred was born in Stamford, Connecticut and received his grade school and high school education in Harrison, New York.
