Darryle Todd made his impact at Missouri Valley on the hardwood, leading the Viking men's basketball program during the 1978-79 and 1979-80 seasons. Darryle had a number of notable achievements during his career, as he was a two-time first team all-conference selection in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. He was named a team captain in his final season at Missouri Valley, and was an all-district selection following the 1979-80 season. Darryle scored over 1,200 points during his two seasons as a Viking, and was the conference's leading scorer in the 1970-80 season when he averaged 27.6 points per game, to go along with a 9.1 rebounds per game average. Darryle received an invitation for the 1980 USA Basketball Olympic trials.
Outside of basketball, Darryle was involved in Student Senate, Baptist Student Union, Black Student Union, intramural football and the President of Soul Phi Soul Social Club. He was on the dean's list, a V-Club honoree and was a runner-up for Mr. Viking.
Darryle graduated from Missouri Valley cum laude with a bachelor's of science degree in administration with a minor in accounting. He has spent 35 years working for Union Pacific in Omaha, Neb., and is currently a Senior Business Manager. Outside of work, Darryle has been active with youth sports, and received the 2007 Benedict Award for youth coaching, handed out by Mount Michael Benedict School in Elkhorn, Neb.
Darryle credits John R. "Scotty" Campbell, a professor and his advisor at Missouri Valley as someone who greatly impacted him. Darryle says Scotty did a great job guiding him towards his goals and greatly valued the conversations the two had.
