Bio

Alva graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1949 and was a member of football teams that appeared in the Cigar Bowl and Refrigerator Bowl.  Alva was know as the “Principal Attacking Weapon” for Missouri Valley College football during the longest winning streak in the nation of 41 games.  Alva played left halfback in Coach Volney Ashford’s power packed single wing and short punt offense formation and became the Midwest’s leading collegiate scorer in 1946 with 84 points.  Alva was also a letterman in track and field competing in the 100 and 200 yard dash, long jump, and relays.

Following graduation Alva taught physical education and coached in the Marshall School District and in the Kansas City School District at Northeast Senior High School.
